On Monday, December 29, 2025, Shrachi Bengal Tigers defeated JSW Soorma Hockey Club at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi. Bengal Tigers have opened their Women’s Hero Hockey India League 2025–26 campaign, earning a hard-fought victory by 1-0.
Agustina Gorzelany was the sole scorer of the match, giving Tigers the lead in the first quarter, while the remaining three rounds ended with Soorma Club trying their best to attack but failed to bring in the advantage.
The match began with both teams going against one another, aiming to get the lead on their side. The Soormas entered the game and on multiple occasions tried to attack on the opponent’s side, but struggled to get a goal. In the final minutes of the first quarter, the Tigers earned a penalty corner, and Gorzelany responded quickly with a drag flick. Shihori Oikawa responded back, giving Soorma a set-piece, but it did not result in an advantage.
Soorma continued their dominance in the second quarter and aimed to level the score through the penalty corners, but the Tigers held firmly to their ground and kept a good defence to maintain their lead in the match. Not even a counter-attack by Soorma’s Maria Granatto could keep the Tigers away from their attack.
For Soorma, the pressure was increased with no lead or goals made yet. They tried their best to push back the Tigers into the deep through the penalty corners. But the Tigers held their strong defence against Soorma and managed to keep the lead until the final quarter. In the final minutes of the game, Soorma earned a penalty corner, but it was too late to result in their favor, which ended in the Tigers claiming the victory by 1-0.
