Ranchi Royals continue their dominant run in the Women’s Hockey India League 2025. On Friday, January 2, 2026, the Royals extended their streak to two wins after defeating Soorma Hockey Club by 2-0 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi. Rutuja Dadaso Pisal and Sakshi Rana were the two goal scorers of the Royals.
In the first quarter, both held tight to their defense without giving each other a reason to score. While Royals were normal in their approach, Soorma was dominant in attack with 10 circle penetrations of the match from Agostina Alonso. She makes a pass from midfield into the circle to Rutuja, who then goes on to hit the perfect goal in the net.
In the third quarter, Soorma’s Olivia Shannon made an effort to add a goal after making a back-handed shot, but Royals’ Bichu Devi Kharibam came to the rescue and preserved the lead. In the 34th minute, Maria Ortiz came teasingly close to increasing the advantage for the Royals as she beat her marker and struck the post with her low-driven shot at goal.
With just two seconds left on the clock, Ranchi Royals won another penalty corner but could not score in advantage. The Royals then added their second goal of the match after Sakshi made a powerful strike from the top right corner. In the final minutes of the game, Soorma added another penalty corner, but Squibb’s drag flick was denied by Bichu Devi.
With the win, Ranchi Royals are now placed in no. 2 of the table rankings with two wins and one loss.
