In the India vs Germany match, both teams maintained their dominance from the start. But in the end, it was Germany returning with a victory by a score of 3-1. India’s Hina Bano (58’) was the only goal scorer of the team. Meanwhile, Lena Frerichs (5’), Annika Schönhoff (52’) and Martina Reisenegger (59’) net a goal each for Germany.

Lena earned a penalty stroke by making no mistakes and gave Germany its lead after just five minutes in the game. Despite the setback, India tried to fight back and tried their best to create a chance, but Germany kept their defence strong. After the end of the first quarter, India was at 0-1.

With India failing to score, Germany strikes back again with a second from Annika, scoring a tap-in. But India fought back through Hina’s score from the penalty corner. India was then at 1-2. But soon later Germany responded with Martina scoring a third for Germany.

The loss against Germany was India’s first of the Junior World Cup. This defeat has, however, cost them their chances in the further qualification. The junior women’s team failed to secure a win against the opponent’s attacking side.

Although the victory did not come in a major style, Germany has added one win in the tournament and is close to confirming their spot in the quarterfinals with two more wins. Meanwhile, India only has one more chance to win their place in the quarterfinals. Their spot and qualification now depend on whether they finish as one of the No. 2 best teams.
