At a meeting conducted by the UEFA Executive Committee on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the German Football Association (DFB) was appointed as the host for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029. The decision was announced by UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, who selected DFB in a selection process that also involved the Polish Football Association, and a joint bid from the Danish and Swedish associations.

Following the announcement, President Čeferin said, “I want to sincerely thank all three bid delegations for their tireless work and commitment throughout the process. Each bid showcased vision and exceptional teamwork between national associations, governments and local experts, all inspired by the benchmark set by Switzerland last summer. Congratulations to Germany – we look forward to an unforgettable tournament in the summer of 2029!”
The UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 will feature 16 teams participating across eight locations in Germany. The list includes Cologne Stadium, BVB Stadion Dortmund, Düsseldorf Arena, Frankfurt Arena, Niedersachsenstadion, Leipzig Stadium, Munich Football Arena, and Wolfsburg Arena.
In the list, six of these stadiums have hosted UEFA EURO games in 2024. Germany, the eight-time champions of the tournament, has previously hosted the women’s event twice, with the last being in 2001.
With prior hosting experience and a world-class infrastructure, the Women’s EURO 2029 will be no less than a promising one.
DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, who was part of the bid presentation with Alexandra Popp, a legendary German striker, is thankful for getting the chance to host a prestigious event like UEFA Women’s 2029. With the recent edition of the tournament concluded in Switzerland, Germany will work hard to provide new standards while attracting millions of fans.
He said, “We have every conviction that the tournament in Germany will attract more than one million fans. We look forward to celebrating a huge celebration of women’s football in the summer of 2029.”
DFB vice-president Heike Ullrich believes the women’s event coming after 24 years is a dream come true. He believes this campaign will foster women’s football growth internationally and will aim to provide the best experience to European football.
Meanwhile, UEFA women’s football director, Nadine Kessler, a former German champion, thinks the event will reach greater heights after the 2025 edition held in Switzerland, saw around 657,291 fans in attendance and with over 412 million viewers on television.
