Meanwhile, veteran seamer Megan Schutt will miss the ODI squad this time. The bowler was part of the Australia Women’s squad in the ICC Women’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2025. In six matches played, she picked up five wickets at an average of 31.00. The team had a disappointing campaign as they lost their semifinal match against India Women by five wickets.

Wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy is said to retire from all cricket formats after the multi-format series against India. She will, however, finish her career with the captaincy role while leading the team’s ODI and Test squad. Molineux will take over the role for the T20I squad. She will, however, join Healy as vice-captain for the ODI and Test squad. Meanwhile, Tahlia McGrath will continue in her role as Australia’s vice-captain along with all-rounder Ash Gardner for the T20Is.

Expressing her excitement on joining Australia Women’s team as skipper starting with the WT20Is against India, Molineux said, “It’s a real honour to be named Australian captain and something I’m incredibly proud of, especially following on from Alyssa, who’s had such a huge impact on this team and the game.”

“We’ve got a really strong group with plenty of natural leaders, alongside a lot of exciting talent coming through, and I’m really looking forward to working together as we keep evolving and pushing ourselves to the next level, while staying true to the identity that makes this team so special,” she added.
