Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen to Lead 20-Member Indian Squad at Asian Boxing Championships 2026

The Asian Boxing Championships 2026 will have top Indian contingents Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zareen leading the 20-member squad. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Mongolia from March 28 to April 11. The squad was finalized after a month-long evaluation process through which the players were selected to attend the national camp in Patiala. The process was conducted under Head Coaches Santiago Nieva (Women) and CA Kuttappa (Men), along with the support staff in the camp.

Olympic medallist Lovlina, who competes in the 75kg category, had recently won gold at the Boxam Elite 2026 Championship in Spain. Joining her in the women’s squad are Preeti (54kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), and Priya (60kg), who also won gold in Spain, and reigning world champions Minakshi (48kg) and Jaismine (57kg). The squad also includes two-time world champion and World Boxing Cup Final gold medallist Zareen (51kg), Ankushita Boro (65kg), Pooja Rani (80kg), and Alfiya Tarannum Akram Khan Pathan (80+kg).

Talking about the selection of the Indian squad for the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, BFI President Ajay Singh is confident it will end with a successful campaign for the nation. He said, “The Asian Championships are always a true test of quality and consistency. Our focus has been on selecting boxers who have shown form, discipline, and the ability to perform under pressure. We are confident this group can compete strongly against the best in Asia.”

The Indian squad boasts a mix of Olympic medallists, world champions, and young talents at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026. India’s nine gold medals from the Boxam Elite 2026 event held in Spain along with top-three finishes at the World Championships and World Boxing Cup events reflects the growth and success the nation has developed in boxing over the years.
