The Proteas Women’s squad for the New Zealand white-ball tour has been released by the South African Women’s Selection Panel. Proteas Women will play both T20Is and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the White Ferns from March 15 to April 4, 2026. The tour begins with five T20Is from March 15 to 25. Meanwhile, the three-match ODIs will serve a major part in their ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) 2026-29 qualification cycle for the 2029 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

The squad includes 15 players led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt. Kayla Reyneke has received a maiden ODI call-up in the squad. The Western Province all-rounder had an impressive campaign in the Pakistan T20I series. Meanwhile, the ODI squad have brought back seamers Ayabonga Khaka and Masabata Klaas.
Proteas Women all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been kept out for the series due to her rehabilitation process from an injury caused during the third T20I against Pakistan. She will, however, join the squad in any other upcoming tours scheduled. Meanwhile, former captain Dane van Niekerk will be part of the squad who made her post-retirement return last year.
Mandla Mashimbyi, Proteas Women head coach says the team is building and preparing themselves up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled in June. The New Zealand series gives them a chance to adapt and face the challenges that could come.
“We are building nicely as a group, and the focus remains on continuing to win matches while refining the areas that will be crucial for us heading into the T20 World Cup. Every series from here on plays an important role in our preparation and growth as a unit,” he stated.
Proteas Women will begin their tour with the first T20I match scheduled on Sunday, 15 March, at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
