Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain Lead Title Rush at National Boxing Championships

The Elite Men’s and Women’s National Boxing Championship 2026, held at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, has wrapped up in style. On Saturday, January 10, women wrestlers Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Minakshi Hooda and Pooja Rani secured dominant wins in their respective category matches. Meanwhile, Jadumani Singh bagged the men’s singles title in the 55kg category.

In the 51kg event, Zareen stole the show with a dominant 5-0 victory over Nitu Ghanghas, while Minakshi Hooda retained her title in the 48kg category after defeating Manju Rani by a score of 5-0. Meanwhile, another promising performer of the women’s section was Pooja, who recorded her 10th national title in the 80kg category. She defeated her Haryana counterpart Naina by 5-0. Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain beats Sanamacha Chanu by 5-0 in the 75 kg category.

Other achievers from the women’s section include Preeti Pawar (54kg), Prachi (57kg), Priya (60kg), Pranjal Yadav (65kg), Arundhati Chaudhary (70kg) and lastly Alfiya Khan (80+kg).

Meanwhile, in the men’s section, 21-year-old Jadumani bagged his first senior title at the National Boxing Championship 2026. He defeated Pawan Bartwal by a score of 5-0 to win the 55kg title. In the semi-finals, he defeated two-time Olympic and World Championship medalist Amit Panghal.

On the other side, Himachal’s Abhinash Jamwal lost his match against Aditya Pratap of the Services Sports Control Board. Aditya claimed the gold medal in the men’s section by a score of 3-2. In the 2025 season, Jamwal had an impressive season with multiple international tournament appearances.

Early in the game, Jamwal had possession but lost against Aditya’s skills and aggressive performance to close the match at 2-3. The two had previously met during the REC combined national talent hunt programme held in 2024. In that event, Abhinash had lost to Aditya.

8. 75kg: Lovlina Borgohain (Asm) bt Sanamacha Chanu (RSPB) 5-0

9. 80kg: Pooja Rani (Har) bt Naina (Har) 5-0

10. 80+kg: Alfiya Khan (RSPB) bt Mankirat Kaur (Pun) 5-0
