DC Women, after winning the toss, decided to bowl first, while GG Women started their innings with the bat. The batting line-up saw some decent and valuable contributions, starting with openers Beth Mooney (19 off 16), Devine (95 off 42), and skipper Ashleigh Gardner (49 off 26). Devine, who came close to her first century of WPL 2026, gave the Giants a big kickstart in the game.

Meanwhile, the middle and lower-order batters failed to score more than 38 runs, with the Giants ending their innings at 209 (all-out). DC Women bowler Nandni Sharma was successful in restricting the lower-order batters by taking five wickets in total. Sree Charani and Chinelle Henry took two wickets each, while Shafali Verma added one.

DC Women opened the innings strongly. Opener Lizelle Lee scored 86 runs in 54 balls, while Shafali could only add 14 runs from her side. Then came in Laura Wolvaardt, who made a valuable contribution with 77 runs off 38 balls. But it was from here that the remaining batters in the line-up struggled to score, adding barely 23 runs more. Both the middle and lower-order batters failed on their part, and DC Women finished the run chase at 205/5 in 20 overs. After showcasing her brilliance with the bat, Devine picked up two wickets for GG Women. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also took two wickets, while Kashvee Gautam added one.

Player of the Match Devine, during the post-match interview, shared what it meant to play for the team and the teamwork that enabled players to put up a score of 200 or more runs.

Devine said, “Probably just relieved. 210 was a good score but with their batting line-up, it was always in the balance. Really pleased for the group but on these pitches, 200-210 might not be enough. You can play with a real sense of freedom. Going to be some big scores out here in this tournament. Nice to be contribute to this group. Does not matter if you have played one or a hundred games – going out there and performing for your team is always pleasing.”
