Indian Youth Boxers Punch Hard with Five Wins on Day 3 of World Boxing Futures Cup

India’s youth boxing team were brilliant in their campaign on the third day of the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 held in Bangkok. The team registered five wins across different events of the tournament. In the first half it was Chandrika Pujari, Joyshree Devi followed by Gunjan and Prachi adding wins in the later half.

In the 50kg event, India’s Pujari secured a dominating 5-0 win over Venezuela, while Devi showed a strong effort in the third round against Kazakhstan in the 54kg event with a Referee Stopped Contest (RSC).

Meanwhile, the second half saw two more wins for the Indian contingent. In the 48 kg event it was Gunjan who defeated Italy by 3-2, while Prachi in the 60kg took a commanding win over Ecuador winning the first round by RSC.

However, in the men’s division, L. Ambekar advanced to the next round after securing a dominant win over Ecuador by 5-0. The victory got India a strong support in the competition.

The World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 will be held in Bangkok from March 8 to 15 featuring some of the promising young boxing talent from all across the world. These youngsters are competing in the Youth Olympic weight categories as the tournament serves as a crucial international exposure and preparation route for the Youth Olympic Games.

Indian youth boxers had a campaign at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain last year. The nation bagged seven medals including four golds, two silvers and one bronze. This was India’s best-ever showcase at the youth boxing event held on a global platform.
