Nat Sciver-Brunt Exits England Camp in South Africa Due to Family Reasons

England Women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will not be part of the squad’s upcoming fixtures in the ongoing T20 series. She will be headed back home from England’s training camp in South Africa due to family reasons. The rest of the squad will remain in Pretoria, preparing for the upcoming season.

The England squad are currently playing a five-match T20 intra-squad series in Pretoria, South Africa that will serve as their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June and July. The squad was originally planned to tour the UAE but the ongoing conflict forced the organisers to change the venue of the event.

The England squad divided the 30-member squad into two teams for the five-match intra-squad trial games, with Team Brittin led by Sciver-Brunt and the other being Team Heyhoe Flint. Team Brittin includes players Sophia Dunkley, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Freya Kemp, Paige Scholfield, Rhianna Southby, Issy Wong, Linsey Smith, Lauren Bell, and Lauren Filer.

Before heading back to her hometown, Sciver-Brunt had played one trial match in which she had scored 41 runs off 24 balls leading her team to defeat the opponent by nine wickets. Team Brittin had to chase a target of 110 in 20 overs. After Sciver-Brunt

Bouchier had scored 47 off 40 after losing the wicket of opener Dunkley who was run out for 12 runs. Her wicket was taken by the opponent bowler Dani Gibson.

Meanwhile, Issy Wong took three wickets, spinner Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell added two wickets each. Team Brittin had completed the run chase eight overs before. Sciver-Brunt led Team Brittin to win its first of the five intra-squad trial games in Pretoria.

After the conclusion of the series in March and ahead of the World Cup, England Women’s team will host New Zealand for a two-white-ball series in May, followed by three T20Is against India.
