India has got its group placement for the 6th Asian Beach Games which is scheduled to be held in Sanya, China, from April 22 to 30. The groups were selected in a draw that was conducted by the Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (SABGOC). The draw covered events like beach soccer, beach handball and beach kabaddi. India has been predominantly placed across beach handball and kabaddi groups.

In the women’s beach handball event, India have been placed in Group B along with China, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Mongolia. The group placement gives India a balanced and competitive structure among the teams in the knockout rounds. Meanwhile, the women’s beach kabaddi team is placed in Group A with Sri Lanka and Syria.
In the men’s beach handball competition, India are placed in Group A alongside China, Iran, Philippines, Hong Kong-China, Sri Lanka and Bahrain. Meanwhile, in beach kabaddi, India are placed in Group B along with Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Sri Lanka. India will not be part of the beach soccer draw event.
The Asian Beach Games will feature 14 sports across 15 different disciplines and 63 events that will see athletes competing on the global stage. For India, their work remains to bring in draws and secure podium finishes.
