Rwanda’s Florence Niyonkuru had to fight a tough battle to claim the international women’s title. She emerged over tournament favourite Brenda Jepchirchir. In the 7km event, Florence, and Brenda were joined by Ethiopian Melal Biratu and Kenya’s Judy Chepaskwony.

Florence took over in the last right turn at the Cubbon Park metro station. She also eased off and missed the event record by ten seconds. Irene Cheptai’s record of 30:35 was scored back in 2022. The Rwanda athlete won prize money worth USD 26,000.
Meanwhile, India’s Harmanjot Singh and Sanjivani Jadhav recorded best timings in the Indian men’s and women’s event respectively. Harmanjot clocked in 29:13 after falling short to break the Indian record by a second. Despite the record, both Harmanjot and Sanjivani won Rs. 3,00,000 and Rs. 2,75,000 respectively.
Harmanjot said, “I had the event record in mind. I tried to stay with the international elite pack as far as I could, which was till 5K. After that, I decided to rely on my own judgement.”
2017 Asian Championships 5,000m bronze medallist Sanjivani won the top Indian honour here for the third consecutive time.
The TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2026 Qasim was held on Sunday, 26 April 2026. The World Athletics Gold Label race event had a new course record in the elite men’s category.
Over 35,000 participants participated across various race categories including World 10K (Elite), Open 10K, Majja Run (4.2 km), Senior Citizens’ Run, and Champions with Disability. The race was held at the RSAOI/RSI Ground on Cubbon Road.
Some record-breaking women performances in the TCS World 10K Bengaluru
International Elite Women: Florence Niyonkuru (Rwanda) secured first place with a time of 30:45.
Indian Elite Women: Sanjivani Jadhav won her third TCS World 10K title, finishing in 35:01.
