At the 2026 LA Grand Prix, Davis-Woodhall jumped an incredible 7.25 meters. However, because there was a strong tailwind of (3.3 meters per second), it wasn’t counted as an official record. According to the rules, the tailwind can’t be stronger than 2.0 meters per second for a jump to be considered legal.

Luckily, Tara had also jumped 7.20 meters earlier, with an allowable tailwind of 1.2 meters per second. This record made it the best jump of the season so far, and the longest jump since Germany’s Malaika Mihambo cleared 7.30m in 2019. Her record came soon after she finished second in the 100m hurdles in 12.47 seconds.

Olympic Gold Medalist Masai Russell won the 100m hurdles in 12.26 seconds. She has the top three times of the season, Russell recorded a time of 12.14 seconds in Xiamen last month.

Sha’Carri Richardson won her first 100m of the season in 10.99 seconds with a slight headwind of -0.2m/s. She outran her training partners, Tamari Davis (11.11) and Kayla White (11.08), stating it “felt good” for a first outing. Before this, Richardson had come back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the 200 m in the Diamond League, in China.

She said, “I definitely am just prepared to keep training and running and just finish out the season stronger than before and just work on the things that are my weaknesses.”

The tournament held at Southern California’s Allyson Felix Field, gave Richardson and other athletes a view of what the LA 2028 Olympics could be like.

“Even though it’s a ways away, it’s still right around the corner,” Richardson said. “Every race, every practice, it’s still in the back of our minds that is what we’re truly preparing for. Every single time I get on the track, I’m thinking about LA,” added Sha’Carri Richardson.

She won the 100m world title in 2023 but settled for silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
