Emma Raducanu has reunited with coach Andrew Richardson, the man who helped her achieve her amazing 2021 US Open victory. She is getting ready to compete again before the French Open.

The two have agreed to work together full-time. Richardson will join Raducanu for the WTA 500 event in Strasbourg and will continue with her through Wimbledon and beyond. The 23-year-old initially started working with him for a training block at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in Spain earlier this month, preparing for the clay-court season.
“(I’m) grateful to have reconnected with someone who has known me for over a decade now and looking forward to building together one iteration at a time,” British number one Raducanu said.
Richardson played a vital role during Raducanu’s remarkable run at the 2021 US Open, where she became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title without losing a set. Although their partnership ended shortly after that victory, they have remained important in each other’s careers, having first collaborated during Raducanu’s junior years.
Since then, Raducanu’s coaching changes have often attracted attention, featuring brief partnerships with coaches like Francisco Roig, Mark Petchey, and Nick Cavaday. However, in recent seasons, she has increasingly turned to familiar faces who knew her before her breakout success in New York.
Raducanu has not played since her defeat to Amanda Anisimova at Indian Wells in March. She has been sidelined by a post-viral illness, missing tournaments in Miami, Madrid, and Rome. She has also fallen outside the top-32 rankings, which means she is likely to be unseeded at Roland Garros.
Now set to return in Strasbourg with Richardson back by her side, Raducanu hopes this reunion will bring her both stability and momentum as she aims to rebuild ahead of another important Grand Slam campaign.
