Spain and France have qualified for the 2027 FIFA World Cup, while England will have to go through the playoffs to secure their seat.

Sarina Weigman’s England will now have to wait longer to have a confirmed seat at the ‘27 World Cup. They needed Spain to lose or draw in Reykjavik; instead, Las Rojas ran riot on Iceland, winning 6-1. Vicky Lopez scored twice, while Edna Imade, Salma Paralluelo, Claudia Pina, and Aitana Bonmati were on target too.
For Iceland, Linda Boama scored the only goal, and they will have to go through the play-offs as they finish just above Ukraine.
England did win against Ukraine 3-0, but it seems their win was in vain. While they ended with 15 points, the same as Spain, the goal difference became the ultimate decider, which gave Spain the upper hand.
At the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Jess Carter got England off the mark, followed by Georgia Stanway, who scored just before half-time. As Ukraine tried to fight back, Beth Mead scored her 40th goal for England and sealed the game.
Talking about the Les Bleues, Melvine Malard scored the only goal against the Republic of Ireland, just before half-time. France held the fort down despite playing with 10 players for the final 20 minutes as Thiniba Samoura was sent off after a second yellow card.
Apart from France and Spain, Denmark and Germany have also qualified and finished first in their respective groups.
