India ended their campaign at the first World Archery Para Series of the year in Bangkok, Thailand. On Friday, Indian compound archers registered three open team titles. The winner list includes notable names like world champions Sheetal Devi and Toman Kumar. Both won two titles each.

For Devi, the first victory came in the women’s open doubles event. She partnered with Payal Nag, and the duo defeated their Kazakhstan opponent by 150-147. The next win came in the mixed doubles. Reigning world champions Devi and Kumar won by a score of 153-146 to defeat Indonesia.
In the All-India compound women’s final, quadruple amputee archer Nag defeated World No. 1 Devi to win the gold medal. The rising star won by 139-136 against Devi. Earlier, Devi had defeated Singapore’s Nur Syahidah Alim by 144-142, while Payal defeated second-seed Zhanat Aitimova of Kazakhstan by 144-142 in the semi-finals clash.
Meanwhile, in the recurve women’s open doubles, India’s Bhawna and Rajshri Rathod won a medal. They finished their campaign with a bronze medal after defeating Japan in straight sets by 6-0. Earlier in the semifinals, the second-seeded duo lost by 1-5 to hosts Thailand, ending their chance to go into the finals. Bhawna had also paired up with Vijay Sundi in the mixed doubles open event. The Indian pair won a bronze medal match against Slovenia in the shoot-off.
In the men’s doubles open event, India’s Toman and Shyam Sunder Swami first won the title with a dominant 153-146 victory over Chinese Taipei. Following this, India’s men’s doubles recurve team of Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi claimed gold after defeating Chinese Taipei 6-2.
The gold medal was India’s fourth in the event. India had a dominant show at the World Archery Para Series in Bangkok. They finished as the top team in the medal tally with 13 medals, including seven golds, three silver and three bronze.
