India Women’s Compound Team Beat Turkiye 233-230 to Set Up World Cup Gold Clash With USA

The 2026 Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Puebla, Mexico, semifinals have resulted well for the Indian women’s team.

On Wednesday, April 8, the top-seeded trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Pragati defeated Turkiye by 233-230. With the win, Indian women’s compound team have secured their finals spot to set themselves up for a gold medal clash with the USA.

The Indian team had defeated Denmark in the quarterfinals by 235-234. In the individual elimination rounds, four Indian compound archers have qualified for the round of 32. The recurve team and mixed team elimination round will begin on Thursday, April 9.

Indian archers will begin their 2026 outdoor World Cup Season campaign with the first stage of the ongoing Archery World Cup, which will continue until April 11. India has sent a 16-member archery team for the opening event, featuring four archers in each of the four individual events.

Deepika Kumari and Jyothi Surekha Vennam are the leading Indian archers of the event. South Korea has withdrawn from the tournament, while India, the USA, Mexico, and China remain in contention.

Indian archers are aiming to result in strong performances as the team eyes their Asian Games qualification. The struggle has been faced by the recurve squad, and to recover from it the squad has undergone a lot of changes in the tournaments.

Recurve Women – Ankita Bhakat, Simranjeet Kaur, Deepika Kumari, Kumkum Mohod

Compound Women – Madhura Dhamangaonkar, Pragati, Aditi Gopichand Swami, Jyothi Surekha Vennam
