India will have their ace shuttlers representing the national contingent at the German Open Super 300 tournament that begins on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. In women’s singles it’s our World Junior Championship silver medalist Tanvi Sharma, while the men’s event will have our veteran Kidambi Srikanth in the lead.

16-year-old Tanvi is entering the tournament in Rank 40. She is set to face Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching in the opening round for the tournament. Earlier at the India Open and Indonesia Masters, Tanvi defeated top seeds including World No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi and World No. 12 Tomoka Miyazaki. She also defeated World No. 17 Busanan Ongbamrungphan at the Asia Badminton Team Championships.
Tanvi’s growth since last year has seen consistent growth starting with her runners-up finish at the Guwahati Masters Super 100 and the US Open Super 300 and made it to the semi-finals of the Syed Modi International Super 300 event.
Meanwhile, 51 ranked Malvika Bansod, will play her sixth tournament of this season after recovering from a knee injury suffered during the 2025 Indonesia Open back in June. The injury forced her to retire from the event. In the German Open she will go against Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt in the opening round.
World number 45 Isharani Baruah, who reached the quarterfinals at the Thailand Masters Super 300 and finished runner-up at the Odisha Masters 2025, will face Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong. On the other hand, Tasnim Mir will face top seed Wang Zhi Yi of China. In the women’s doubles, the Indian duo of Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam will compete against the Chinese Taipei pair of Hsu Yin-Hui and Lin Jhih Yun.
On the other hand, in the men’s singles draw, Kiran George will compete against France’s Christo Popov, while Tharun Mannepalli takes on Chinese Taipei’s Wang Tzu Wei. Aakarshi Kashyap will go against Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po.
