Leading the charge was 17-year-old sensation Tanvi Sharma, who delivered a dominant performance in the quarterfinals to defeat Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira in straight games, 21-14, 21-14. The young Indian looked in complete control throughout the 43-minute contest, handling her more experienced opponent with confidence and composure.

Sharma now faces a much tougher challenge in the semi-finals against former world champion Nozomi Okuhara, setting up a high-stakes clash that will test the teenager’s growing credentials on the big stage.

Joining her in the semi-finals is Isharani Baruah, who progressed after Malvika Bansod retired midway through their all-Indian quarter-final encounter. Baruah was firmly in control at 21-9, 15-7 when Bansod, struggling physically, was forced to withdraw.

India’s strong presence in the latter stages of the tournament reflects a consistent run of performances from its women’s singles contingent. Earlier, three Indian players had reached the quarterfinals, underlining the depth in the squad.

Sharma had set the tone with a straight-games victory over Anmol Kharb, while Bansod advanced with a composed win against Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching. Baruah, meanwhile, battled through a three-game contest against Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang to secure her place in the last eight.

With Sharma and Baruah still in contention, India’s hopes now rest on its rising stars to carry forward the momentum and potentially bring home a title from Orleans.
