Former world champion PV Sindhu and India’s top-ranked men’s shuttler Lakshyan Sen are the leading figures of the singles event at the All England Open 2026 Super 1000. The Indian contingent also includes notable names like Malvika Bansod, Unnati Hooda, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand as part of the event.

In the women’s singles, Sindhu will face off against Thailand’s Supanida Kathethong in the first round match. If won, Sindhu will be next headed against world No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi in the second round. Meanwhile, for Malvika Bansod, her match is scheduled against former Olympic champion Chen Yufei of China in her opening campaign. Unnati Hooda will face Pornpawee Chochuwong.
Injury has kept Sindhu in a debacle as she had to withdraw from the Asian team tournament for the second time. She also missed out on the Mixed team Championship last year due to a hamstring injury. She began her 2026 campaign with a semi-finals run at the Malaysia Open, followed by her quarter-finals entry at the Indonesia Masters. She, however, lost the Round of 64 match of the India Open to Vietnam’s Nguyễn Thùy Linh.
With a successful campaign at the All England Open, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will compete against Sayaka Hirota and Ayako Sakuramoto from Japan.
On the other hand, in the mixed doubles, India’s Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila will take on Malaysia’s Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin. The duo of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will have their match against the fifth-seeds Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue of France.
India’s men’s singles event, headed by Lakshya, will see him competing against world No. 1 Shi Yu Qi in the opening round. The top-ranked Indian shuttler had previously lost against Yu Qi at the 2025 BWF World Championships. Not only that, the Indian lost all four of his four consecutive matches against Shi. He, however, defeated the Chinese player at their first-ever encounter in the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou.
Another promising men’s singles star contender for India is Ayush Shetty, who will be up against Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan in the opening round. Meanwhile, the men’s duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty is coming in as a strong contender for India’s title victory. They begin their campaign against world No. 34 Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai of Malaysia.
