BAI Invites Bids to Develop and Manage New Professional Badminton League

Badminton Association of India (BAI) invites organisations for the development and management of badminton leagues. The Badminton Association of India looks at this move as a way to sustainably develop badminton in India and create a structured league.

BAI has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from sports management companies, event promoters and other organisations as they aim to create, develop and manage a professional badminton league in India. The aim is to create a league structure which focuses on fan engagement, and long-term growth of badminton in the country.

According to the association, parties of interest should have proven experience in the organisation and management of national/international sports leagues. They should also have proficiency in event management, sponsorship acquisition, media rights, broadcasting, and marketing.

The interested parties should have the financial capability to sustain the development of the league. A bank guarantee or a bank comfort letter from a scheduled commercial bank will have to be submitted as proof. The minimum amount should be ₹30 crores.

The proposals must include the following things:

• Details of the proposed league format and competition structure

• Franchise Ownership Model

• Revenue Generation Ideas

• Sponsorship and Broadcasting Rights structure

• Marketing Approach

• Governance framework and Financial projections

The deadline for submission of the complete proposals along with the documents is June 30th, 2026. If this goes through, it could be a huge step for the growth of badminton in India.
