However, in the ongoing China Masters tournament, Tanvi defeated Amalie in straight games, 21-16, 21-17, in the Round of 32 to advance to the next round on Wednesday.

At the first break, Tanvi got a 11-5 lead, while dominating the early exchanges. After the interval, she maintained control and won the opening game 21-16.

The second game was more of a close call. Tanvi initially got an early lead; however, Amalie fought back to take an 11-10 advantage at the break.

Schulz continued to match Tanvi point for point, with the scores levelling at 16-16 and 17-17, but the Indian held her nerve in the closing exchanges, winning four straight points to seal the game 21-17 and complete the win in just over half an hour.

Sharma will next face Tomoka Miyazaki in the Round of 16. Miyazaki and Sharma have met once before at the Indonesia Masters 2026, where the Japanese shuttler defeated Tanvi 18-21, 21-18, 21-16.

Reaching the Round of 16 at this year’s China Masters is Tanvi’s best performance yet at a Super 750 tournament.
