Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed a high-profile five-match Women’s T20 International (WT20I) series against India, with matches scheduled across Durban, Johannesburg and Benoni from 17 to 27 April 2026. The series brings together two of the strongest sides in women’s cricket as they step into the final stretch of preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The series will begin at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, which will host the opening two encounters on 17 and 19 April. The contest will then shift to Johannesburg, where the Wanderers Stadium is set to stage back-to-back matches on 22 and 25 April. The five-match assignment will conclude at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on 27 April.
“Facing a team of India’s quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation,” Enoch Nkwe, CSA director of national teams and high performance, said in a statement. “It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team’s readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup.”
For South Africa Women, the series carries added significance as it marks their final official international assignment before the Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins on 12 June 2026 in England. The Proteas have been placed in a competitive Group 1, alongside Australia, Pakistan, India, and two teams emerging from the qualifiers.
The upcoming T20I series also renews a growing rivalry between the two sides. Their most recent meeting came in November, when India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the Women’s ODI World Cup, adding extra narrative to the April clash.
With World Cup momentum on the line, the series is expected to provide both teams with critical insights into combinations, form, and match readiness ahead of the global tournament.
