Delhi Capitals dominated the match, defeating Mumbai Indians Women by seven wickets. Skipper Jemimah Rodrigues and N Sree Charani were the highlight players of Delhi Capitals Women in the match.

Mumbai started the first innings with the bat but only two of their batters managed to pull off and gave the team some valuable contributions. After losing their openers, Sajeevan Sajana (9 off 9) and Hayley Matthews (12 off 15), Nat Sciver-Brunt and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur brought the team in a stable condition. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten at 65 runs off 45 balls, while Harmanpreet scored 41 runs off 33 balls.
Meanwhile, Nicola Carey (12 off 11), Amanjot Kaur (3 off 3), and Sanskriti Gupta (10* off 5) failed to continue the momentum and finished the innings at 154/5. Delhi’s bowler Charani claimed three wickets, while Marizanne Kapp and Nandni Sharma added one each.
On the other hand, the batting line-up of Delhi was in a much clearer state, with decent contributions coming from all. Openers Shafali Verma (29 off 24) and Lizelle Lee (46 off 28) started strong with a 50-run partnership in the powerplay. Laura Wolvaardt, however, got run out at 17 runs. At the end, skipper Rodrigues (51* off 37) and Marizanne Kapp (10* off 6) remained unbeaten and finished the run chase in the 19th over. Besides a run out, debutant Vaishnavi Sharma and Amanjot, took one wicket each.
In the WPL 2026 Points Table, Mumbai Indians Women currently sit in No. 2 with four points, while Delhi Capitals Women move to No. 4 with a net run rate of -0.586.
Harmanpreet Kaur on Vaishnavi’s bowling
Mumbai Indians’ lost the match with a failed attempt from the lower-order batters. With many players undergoing injury problems, skipper Harmanpreet believes that the responsibility lies with the whole team to result in victory.
During the post-match interview, she said, “We were 20-30 runs short. We couldn’t execute with the bat and it has been bothering us throughout the tournament. We need to push more in the powerplay. Before the tournament, we were struggling with injuries. It’s not an excuse, but whoever is batting in the opening spot has to take responsibility.”
Harmanpreet then went on to credit Vaishnavi’s bowling skills that earned them a crucial wicket of Delhi Capitals’ opening batter Shafali. As for her age, she, along with the experienced Amanjot, makes a good addition to the bowling line-up.
“She is the one who kept us in the game. We bowled badly in the powerplay, but her wicket of Shafali was the turning point. She was great with Amanjot… The next two games are important, and we’ll go in with a positive mindset,” she added.
