In Match 11, Bangladesh A Women produced a dominant performance to defeat Malaysia Women by a commanding 90 runs.

Being put to bat first, Bangladesh A posted a competitive 151 for 7 despite a shaky start. Openers Ishma Tanjim and Rubya Haider were dismissed early, with Ishma falling for a duck and Rubya contributing 14. The innings was then rebuilt through a steady partnership, led by Sarmin Sultana, who scored a well-paced 30 off 25 deliveries to stabilise the middle overs.

The standout performance came from Lata Mondal, whose fluent 48 anchored the innings and provided momentum heading into the latter stages. Bangladesh A finished strongly thanks to Sadia Akter’s explosive cameo – 19 runs off just 11 balls at a strike rate of 172 which pushed the total beyond the 150 mark. For Malaysia, Nur Dania Syuhada was the most effective bowler with two wickets, while the remaining bowlers managed one wicket each.

In reply, Malaysia Women struggled from the outset and were unable to build any meaningful partnerships. Openers Ainna Hamizah Hashim (2) and Wan Julia (3) departed cheaply, putting immediate pressure on the middle order. Captain Mas Elysa also failed to steady the innings, scoring just five runs. The only batter to reach double figures was Nur Arianna Natsya, who remained unbeaten on 22*, but with little support from the other end, Malaysia were bowled out well short of the target.

Bangladesh A’s bowling attack was clinical, led by Fatema Jahan, who claimed three wickets, while Shorifa Khatun picked up two. The disciplined spell ensured a comprehensive victory and further strengthened Bangladesh A’s position in the tournament.

Match 12 saw Sri Lanka A Women edge past Thailand Women by 23 runs in a closely contested encounter.

Batting first, Sri Lanka A posted 133 for 5 after being put under pressure early. Openers Sanjana Kavindi (13) and captain Anushka Sanjeewani (4) were unable to convert their starts, leaving the innings in need of consolidation. That role was superbly fulfilled by Hansima Karunaratne, who played a composed and unbeaten knock of 62*, guiding Sri Lanka A through the middle overs and providing stability.

Thailand’s bowlers kept things tight, with Phannita Maya picking up two wickets, while Sunida Chaturongrattana and Natthakan Chantham claimed one each, restricting Sri Lanka A from accelerating freely at the death.

Chasing 134, Thailand began with intent as opener Natthakan Chantham led the charge with a well-made 57, supported by Aphisara Suwanchonrathi’s 24. However, once the opening stand was broken, the innings lost momentum rapidly. The middle and lower order collapsed, with most batters dismissed for single-digit scores, including captain Naruemol Chaiwai, who fell for a duck.

Sri Lanka A’s bowlers capitalised on the pressure, with Sathya Sandeepani and Sachini Nisansala taking two wickets each. Malsha Shehani, Ama Kanchana and Yasanthi Nimanthika also chipped in with a wicket apiece, ensuring Thailand were restricted to 110 and sealing a 23-run win.

With these results, Bangladesh A Women and Sri Lanka A Women underlined their growing confidence and balance, while Malaysia and Thailand will look to regroup quickly as the Rising Stars Asia Cup moves deeper into its competitive phase.
