Lancashire Women emerged as champions of the Women’s One-Day Cup 2025 Final at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. It was a thrilling contest between Lancashire and witnessed a thrilling contest between Lancashire and Hampshire. Lancashire defeated Hampshire by six wickets to clinch the title. Lancashire chased down the target of 289 in 48.3 overs with the help of a stunning century from Gaby Lewis. The win was also significant as Lancashire women had won the Women’s T20 County Cup earlier in the domestic season.
Lancashire won the toss and invited Hampshire to bat. Hampshire had a steady start as Maia Bouchier and Rhianna Southby put up 70 runs for the first wicket before Southby was dismissed by Potts. Bouchier provided early momentum with a fluent 66 from 59 deliveries, scoring ten boundaries. Georgia Adams made a steady 77 runs from 98 deliveries. Further, contributions from Freya Kemp (41 /41) and Abi Norgrove (36 /31) boosted the total. Grace Potts led the bowling attack with (3/47), restricting the Hampshire batter from scoring runs. She was supported by other bowlers, Mahika Gaur (1/63), Hannah Jones (1/50) and Fi Morris (1/41).
At the start of the second innings, Lancashire lost the early wicket at 20 runs. After that, Gaby Lewis and Seren Smale built a strong partnership as they put up 144 runs together. Gaby Lewis’ match-winning knock of 141 runs in 143 balls with 16 boundaries led the chase. Smale supported with a steady knock of 72 runs in 85 balls with seven fours. Eleanor Threkheld (32/30) and (17*/14) scored quick runs to seal a memorable victory. For Hampshire, only Freya Davies (1/38) and Mary Taylor (1/57) proved to be wicket-taker bowlers.
It was a tough loss for Hampshire despite an impressive batting performance. However, their bowlers could not provide more support to complement the batting performance.
