The foes meet again as Indian women and Pakistani women will face off in the 9th match of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup on September 5th, 2026, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
In the Group A table, India sits at the top while Pakistan sits in second position, yet to play their second game. India have already qualified for the semifinals, with their 137-run win over Hong Kong Women. Pakistan, led by Fatima Sana, will look to put up a strong fight and qualify for the semifinals as well.
India’s first match was against Thailand, where they won by a margin of 94 runs, while Pakistan’s first match was also against Thailand, where they won by 35 runs.
Both teams recently met in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, back in June, when India defeated them by 64 runs.
Speaking of India, while they’ve secured dominant victories over both opponents, their form is still far from perfect. The top order — Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana — have done all the heavy lifting, while the middle order remains unstable, a remnant of their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign back in June this year.
Against Thailand, they went from 108/3 to 137/9 before Kranti Goud and Shree Charni added a few runs. Harmanpreet Kaur (5), Richa Ghosh (0), Bharti Fulmali (13), and Deepti Sharma (5) all failed to build momentum.
Against Hong Kong, while Smriti scored the better part of the runs, the middle order didn’t get much time and again failed to create an impact. After Smriti’s 124 (64), only Shafali was the highest scorer with 28 (17).
Talking about Pakistan, having played only one match in the tournament, they had the exact opposite problem. Against Thailand, their top order collapsed, and the team was 3-23 at one point. Only Muneeba Ali from the top order scored 54 (52), and small cameos from Sadaf Shamas (20), Umm-e-Hani (17), and Tuba Hassan 12 (4) helped them to get 119/9, which was enough for them to win.
It’s tricky to say who will win this match, but either way, both teams have problems to solve and need to strengthen their playing XI.
