South Korea have got their pass for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 quarterfinals after securing their second win of the tournament. On Thursday, the Koreans defeated the Philippines by a score of 3-0 at Gold Coast Stadium. In the opening fixture played on March 3, the Koreans beat Iran by 3-0. The South Koreans finished the 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup as runners-up.

If hosts Australia win their next match against Iran on Thursday, March 5, they and South Korea will move into the knockout stage to be played on Sunday, March 8, in Sydney. The team winning the knockout match will take the top spot in the Group A rankings.
Meanwhile, in the match, Korea’s Jeon Yu-gyeong opened the scoreboard for the team, scoring in the 12th minute of the game with a neat turn. Three minutes later the ball then went to midfielder Park who scored from the edge of the box and it went into the top corner of the net. Park Soo-jeong scored the pick of the goals, while, Mun Eun-ju added the third goal for the Koreans in the early minutes of the second half.
The Philippines, on the other hand, with no wins in the tournament had their final Group match against Iran, however, they had many chances from the headers.
In the first game against Iran, South Korea defeated them in dominant fashion by a score of 3-0. Choe Yu-ri, Kim Hye-ri and Ko Yoo-jin were the goal scorers of Korea in that match. The team currently sits in No. 21 of the FIFA world rankings.
In the 2025 final match of the AFC Women’s Asia Cup held last year, South Korea lost their match to China by 3-2 giving their opponent their ninth title of the tournament.
