The 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup is upcoming and we have 12 teams from across the world ready to compete under three groups. The teams are competing for the Asian Champions title. This year, the tournament is being hosted by Australia, which begins on March 1. The tournament opener will see hosts Australia take on the Philippines, which will be held at Optus Stadium in Perth.

This is the final edition of the tournament that will serve as a qualification process for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be held in Brazil. From the 2031 edition onwards, the qualifiers of the tournament will be held separately.
This continental national tournament is held every four years. This is the oldest tournament to be played in women’s football, which started 50 years ago in 1975. China are the defending champion of this tournament with a total of nine titles won including the latest one in 2022. India was the host of that edition.
As per the latest FIFA Rankings, Japan is the top-ranked team in the tournament followed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, then Australia, while China comes behind them.
