She was born on 5 February 1996 in Dimdailong village in Churachandpur district of Manipur. She belongs to the Rongmei tribe and grew up in a region known for producing many talented Indian footballers. Her parents, Simon Dangmei and Rita Dangmei, supported her passion for football from an early age. Her natural athletic ability and love for the game quickly set her apart from many of her peers.
Dangmei began her professional career with KRYPHSA FC, one of the prominent clubs in Indian women’s football. She featured in the inaugural editions of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) and established herself as a dangerous attacking player with her speed and dribbling ability. Her performances with KRYPHSA gained national recognition, and during the 2017-18 Indian Women’s League season, she was awarded the Emerging Player Award, highlighting her rapid development as one of India’s brightest young attackers.
In 2019, Dangmei joined Sethu FC for the third edition of the Indian Women’s League. She made an immediate impact by scoring twice in her debut match against Manipur Police Sports Club. Her contributions played a crucial role in Sethu FC’s successful campaign, which ended with the club winning the 2018-19 Indian Women’s League title.
Dangmei later signed with Gokulam Kerala FC, where she became one of the key players in the squad and was appointed vice-captain. During her time at the club, she helped Gokulam Kerala achieve domestic success, including back-to-back Indian Women’s League titles in 2021-22 and 2022-23. The club also represented India in the AFC Women’s Club Championship, where Dangmei featured against strong international opposition and played an important role in the team finishing third in the tournament.
In July 2022, Dangmei took a significant step in her career by signing with Sevinch Qarshi (Nasaf Qarshi Women) in the Uzbekistan Women’s League. During the 2022 season, she helped the Uzbek club win both the Uzbekistan Women’s League and the Uzbekistan Women’s Cup, contributing four goals in league matches.
Dangmei has been a regular member of the India women’s national team since making her senior debut in 2013 at the age of 17. Over the years, she has represented the country in numerous international tournaments, becoming one of the most experienced players in the squad.
