She developed an interest in football during her school years, often watching older players train before eventually joining the sport herself. Initially, she faced doubts about her ability due to her height, and coaches encouraged her to try other sports such as athletics and kho-kho. However, her natural speed and agility soon convinced her mentors that she had strong potential in football.
Growing up in a rural environment, Kaviya encountered several challenges common to many aspiring female athletes in India. Access to proper equipment and resources was limited, and she often had to continue playing with worn-out gear. Despite these obstacles, her dedication and persistence helped her pursue football at a competitive level.
Kaviya began gaining attention in Indian women’s football while playing for Kickstart FC, a Bengaluru-based club competing in the Indian Women’s League. During the 2022 Karnataka Women’s League, she delivered an exceptional performance by finishing as the top scorer with 22 goals, showcasing her strong attacking ability and finishing skills.
She also played for Kickstart FC in the 2021–22 Indian Women’s League season, where the club finished third in the regular season standings. Her performances in the competition highlighted her ability to perform consistently against top domestic teams.
One of the standout moments of her club career came during the 2023 Indian Women’s League season, when she scored her first hat-trick in the competition in a dominant victory against Churchill Brothers. Her outstanding performance in that match earned her the Hero of the Match award, further cementing her reputation as a dangerous forward in Indian women’s football.
After her successful stint with Kickstart FC, Kaviya joined Sethu FC, one of the established clubs in the Indian Women’s League. In addition to her club career, Kaviya has represented Tamil Nadu in national domestic competitions.
