The English Midfielder, Georgia Stanway, has signed a permanent deal with Arsenal, the WSL club announced.

Stanway joined Bayern Munich in 2022 and spent four years with them. She left the club at the end of this year’s season, winning eight trophies and making 128 appearances.
The English Midfielder began her career with Blackburn Rovers, after which she joined Manchester City in 2015, where she scored 67 goals in 186 appearances in the course of seven seasons. She won one WSL crown, three FA Cups and three League Cups with Man City.
Speaking on her move to Arsenal, Stanway said, “It’s an unbelievable feeling, and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal. This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels, and I want to be a part of it. I want to win trophies and grow as a player, and this is the right place to do that with the backing of an incredible fanbase.”
In the 2025-26 season, Arsenal finished second in the WSL, four points behind City.
Renee Slegers, the manager said, “Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player.
“She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign ahead.”
Clare Wheatley, the director of women’s football, added: “We’re delighted to bring Georgia to Arsenal. Georgia is among the best midfielders in the world with a proven track record of success at club and international level.”
“She brings strong leadership, character and competitiveness, and I know our supporters will enjoy watching her play in red and white.”
At the international stage, Stanway has 93 caps for England and was a part of the Lionesses’ European Championship Wins in 2022 and 2025. She is also a two-time Arnold Clark Cup winner and a 2023 World Cup Runner-up.
In June 2018, Stanway was named in the UEFA Women’s Champions League squad of the season, while in 2019, she was awarded the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year.
For England, she has scored 33 goals in 93 appearances; for Manchester City, 67 goals in 186 matches; and for Bayern Munich, 32 goals in 128 matches.
The English midfielder is what Arsenal’s midfield has been asking for the past two years. Stanway became a complete midfielder during her time in the Frauen-Bundesliga with Bayern Munich; everything went through her, and she would often make around 100 passes per game.
Slegers’ comments on Stanway’s signing are key. The Arsenal head coach said she will add a “new dimension” to their midfield.
Stanway looks like a statement signing for Arsenal, and she is the first of several players expected this summer.
