Liverpool Football Club Women is a professional English women’s football team based in St Helens, Merseyside, England. They have been the official women’s division of Liverpool FC since 1994. The club was a founding member of the top-tier Women’s Super League in 2011. It was founded in 1989 as Newton LFC and subsequently renamed Knowsley United WFC. It was in mid-1994 that the club linked with Liverpool FC and came to be known as Liverpool Ladies FC. Liverpool became the first English football club to offer every female player full-time professional contracts.
