The women’s history of the club goes way back to 1969-70, when the ban wasn’t even lifted until 1970, which permitted women to play football. However, in Hoffenheim, there was already a group of courageous and progressive women who had been meeting to play together since 1969. These women are considered to be the pioneers of TSG Hoffenheim, though unfortunately the team only lasted for two years.

Speaking about the modern history of TSG Hoffenheim’s women’s football, which began with the founding of a joint team for girls by 1. FC Mühlhausen and VfB St. Leon. In the 2006/07 season, the joint team of Mühlhausen and St. Leon registered its first women’s team, which celebrated promotion to the Verbandsliga (regional league) in 2007.

Somewhere between 2007-10 the women’s team was no longer permitted to compete as a joint team in the Verbandsliga (regional league); as a result, all girls’ and women’s teams participated in league play as TSG 1899 Hoffenheim starting in the 2007/08 season. The first year as TSG ended with the women winning the Baden Cup, the Verbandsliga Baden championship, and promotion to the Oberliga (fifth tier).

Between 2010-13 in their first season of the 2. Bundesliga, the club finished in third place, and, a year later under Jürgen Ehrmann, climbed to second.
