1. FC Nürnberg is a women’s football club from Nuremberg, Germany.

The women’s and the girls’ section of 1. FC Nürnberg was founded on August 24, 1988. As part of club-wide organisational restructuring and the spin-off of the departments into independent clubs, 7 people founded an independent club in the business premises of 1. FC Nürnberg in the spring of 1995, as 1. Fußball-Club Nürnberg Frauen- und Mädchenfußball e. V.. In 1999.

The team earned its first-ever promotion to the Frauen-Bundesliga in the 1999-2000 season; however, they were relegated back to the Regionalliga Süd after just one season.

In 2003-04, they were relegated to the Bayernliga, then to Bayernliga North, before securing two successive promotions to the Regionalliga in the 2009-10 season. But just two seasons later, they were relegated back to the Bayernliga and spent eight years in the Regionalliga.

In the 2020-21 season, Nürnberg finished at the top of their Regionalliga Süd group and secured promotion to the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga. On November 19, 2022, during the annual general meeting, a unanimous vote was passed to re-merge the independent women’s association back into the main sports club 1. FC Nürnberg.

In 2023, after finishing 2nd in the 2. Bundesliga during the 2022-23 season, Nürnberg earned a promotion back to the top-flight Frauen-Bundesliga after 24 years. In the 2023-24 season back, they moved their home fixtures to the Max-Morlock Stadium; however, in that same season, they were relegated again.

Nürnberg bounced back quickly in April 2025 as they earned promotion back to the Frauen-Bundesliga by securing a top-3 spot in the 2. Bundesliga.

The club’s first debut in the Frauen-Bundesliga came in the 1999-2000 season.
