The Soorma Hockey Club has finished its campaign in the Women’s Hockey India League 2025-26 with two straight victories. On Tuesday, January 6, they played their final match against Shrachi Bengal Tigers held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. Soorma defeated Tigers in a hard-fought victory by 3-2.

Despite the loss, the Tigers have already booked their place in the finals, where they will face table toppers SG Pipers, while Soorma are out of contention. Sonam was named Player of the Match for playing a valuable role in Soorma’s victory.
Setting the dominance early, Soorma were aggressive in their approach and kept the Tigers under pressure, which rewarded them with their first goal of the match. In the 10th minute of the game, Sonam got the opportunity to score from close range and gave Soorma the lead at 1-0. Meanwhile, Tigers responded after gaining possession but were unable to get past Soorma’s defence till the second quarter.
It was, however, in the third quarter when the Tigers got their equaliser from their top-scorer Agustina Gorzelany, who converted a penalty corner into a goal. With the score tied, Soorma held their composure and continued with the attack over the Tigers. This later helped them take their lead back from the Tigers in the fourth quarter from Penny Squibb’s goal. They continued their run in the 53rd minute and secured their third of the match after Maria Granatto converted a set-piece to keep Soorma at 3-1.
The Bengal Tigers made a late attempt to put pressure on Soorma. Lalremsiami even had a chance to add one more goal from a penalty corner rebound, but the time was not on their side. This allowed Soorma to maintain their defense until the final minutes of the game, and they gained their second win of the league.
