The camp, being conducted under newly appointed chief coach Sjoerd Marijne, is a key step in India’s preparations for the qualifiers scheduled to take place in March in Telangana. A total of 29 players are currently training at SAI Bengaluru, as the focus shifts towards building a competitive squad for the upcoming international challenge.

The Women’s HIL once again proved to be a crucial pathway for emerging talent, offering Indian players valuable exposure against elite international competition. Several youngsters used the platform to deliver consistent and impactful performances, earning national recognition.

Among the notable call-ups is Lathantluangi of Ranchi Royals, who impressed with her defensive discipline and composure. The 20-year-old was part of the league’s most effective defence, which conceded just seven goals across the season. Her ability to read the game and initiate play from the back stood out throughout the tournament.

Bansari Solanki of SG Pipers also earned selection following a standout campaign. The 24-year-old goalkeeper played a decisive role in the final, producing three crucial saves in the shootout to guide her team to the title. Her performances across the season earned her the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.

Forward Sonam continued her upward trajectory with JSW Soorma Hockey Club, displaying attacking intent and confidence despite her team’s struggles in front of goal. Already a junior international, the 20-year-old showed her readiness to compete at the senior level.

Defender Shilpi Dabas, another key figure in SG Pipers’ title-winning run, translated her domestic consistency into assured performances in the league. Her calm defending and positional awareness were instrumental in securing her first senior national camp call-up. Midfielder Hina Bano rounded off the list of standout performers.

The 21-year-old impressed with her composure and work rate in the middle of the park for JSW Soorma Hockey Club, showcasing maturity beyond her years and reinforcing her progression from the junior ranks.

With the World Cup qualifiers approaching, the coaching staff will look to assess combinations, strengthen squad depth, and integrate these emerging players into the senior setup as India aim to secure their place at the global showpiece.
