Manisha Chauhan hails from Uttarakhand and developed an interest in sports at a young age. During her school days at Shri Ram Vidya Mandir in Haridwar, she played multiple sports including football, handball, long jump, and shot put before eventually choosing hockey. Her school coach Balwinder Singh played a key role in introducing her to hockey and guiding her early development.

She quickly stood out in school-level competitions and later went on to captain the Uttarakhand team at the Junior Women National Championship in 2016, marking an early leadership role in her career.

Although she received a call-up to the Indian Junior Women’s national camp, she faced setbacks and was eventually dropped from the camp in 2018. Despite this disappointment, she continued to work on her game through domestic tournaments and training.

Manisha built her reputation in Indian domestic hockey through consistent performances. She represented teams such as Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh Hockey, Manipur Hockey, and Railways in national tournaments. Her breakthrough performance came during the 2023 Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, where she impressed with strong midfield play and scored three goals, earning a Player of the Match award. This performance led to her selection for the Senior Women’s National Camp.

She also competed in events such as the All-India Inter-University Games and the Khelo India Games, further strengthening her domestic profile.

Manisha Chauhan made her senior international debut for India in 2024 against Argentina during the European leg of the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Pro League, fulfilling a long-standing dream of representing the country. She soon became part of the national setup and was included in the Indian squad that competed in the 2024 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in Rajgir, where India won the gold medal. During the tournament, she also scored her first international goals, contributing to India’s dominant victory over Thailand.
