Ishika Chaudhary was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and began playing hockey at a young age. She trained at the Madhya Pradesh Women’s Hockey Academy in Gwalior, one of India’s key grassroots development centres for women’s hockey.
Her performances in Junior National Championships in Bhopal in 2016 and 2017 caught the attention of selectors, leading to her selection for the Indian national camp in 2017. Before making the senior national team, Ishika progressed through India’s junior system and quickly established herself as a dependable defender.
Ishika first gained international recognition during the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, where she represented India in the Hockey5s format. The Indian team finished with a silver medal, marking one of the earliest highlights of her career. She also competed in the Youth Olympic Games qualifiers in Bangkok in 2018, where she scored three goals, showcasing her ability to contribute offensively despite being a defender. Later, she was part of the Indian squad at the FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 2022 in Potchefstroom, South Africa, where India finished fourth.
She made her senior debut for the Indian women’s hockey team in 2022 and has since become a regular member of the defensive unit. She has represented India in several major tournaments, including: Asian Games 2022 (Hangzhou) – Bronze Medal, Women’s Asia Cup 2022 (Muscat) – Bronze Medal, Asian Champions Trophy 2023 (Ranchi) – Gold Medal, Asian Champions Trophy 2024 (Rajgir) – Gold Medal, FIH Hockey Pro League seasons with the Indian team. Her consistent performances have helped strengthen India’s defensive line in major international competitions.
At the domestic level, Ishika represents Indian Oil Corporation Limited in national tournaments. She has also played in the Women’s Hockey India League, where she represented Odisha Warriors, competing against top domestic and international players.
