Deepika Soreng is an Indian field hockey player who represents the Indian women’s national hockey team as a forward. She hails from Jharkhand, a state widely recognized for producing talented hockey players for the Indian national team. Growing up in a region with a strong hockey culture, Deepika developed a passion for the sport at an early age and worked her way through the junior hockey system with determination and dedication.
Deepika first gained international recognition when she represented India at the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Kakamigahara, Japan. During the tournament, she delivered an outstanding performance by scoring seven goals in six matches, becoming the second-highest goal scorer of the tournament. India went on to win the championship, and her contribution played a key role in the team’s success.
In 2023, she also represented the Indian junior team at the Four Nations Junior Women’s Invitational Tournament in Düsseldorf, Germany, gaining valuable international exposure. Later that year, she was part of the Indian team at the FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup 2023 in Santiago, Chile, further strengthening her experience at the global level.
Deepika continued to rise through the ranks and was selected to represent India in the FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 in Oman, where the Indian team finished as runners-up and won the silver medal. Her performances in junior and international tournaments highlighted her attacking ability and goal-scoring instincts as a forward.
She made her senior international debut in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023–24, marking an important milestone in her career.
