At the age of 1 year, 9 months and 10 days, Veda Sarfare makes history as the youngest swimmer to etch her name in the India Book of Records. The achievement comes on the heels of her record-setting 100-metre swim, completed in 10 minutes and 8 seconds, at a public swimming pool in Ratnagiri.

After completing her race, the India Book of Records recognised her achievement via a mail sent to her parents on November 25, 2025, and credited her performance and the age at which she achieved it.

The mail read: “Veda has become the youngest to swim 100 meters. The record for swimming 100m was set by Veda Paresh Sarfare, born on January 22, 2024, of Ratnagiri. She swam 100m (4 laps) across the length of a swimming pool measuring 25m *22m in 10 minutes and 8 seconds at the municipal swimming pool.”

Soon after, social media was flooded with videos of the young swimmer circulating all over from her official Instagram page, where she can be seen diving confidently in the pool and completing laps.

Started her swimming lessons at the age of nine months old, Veda has been coached under Mahesh Milke and his wife, Gauri. Following her victory, Mahesh shared his emotions on her student’s achievement and how she has inspired everyone through it.

He said, “With hard work and consistent training, this 21-month-old has imprinted her mark as the ‘Youngest Swimmer’ nationally.”

The duo of Mahesh and his wife, Gauri, nurtured Veda’s development process through training and play with the use of purposeful strokes. Not just Veda, but they are providing skilled mentorship to students in a public swimming space with limited resources but the training has been impactful nonetheless.

Besides her coach, Veda’s family, including her parents Paresh and his wife, are the ones who played a crucial role in letting their daughter get the experience into a sport like swimming and gain confidence while being on the water.

Meanwhile, another young swimmer who caught the attention is 10-year-old Aanvi Shailesh Suvarna from Dombivali. In November, she completed an open-water sea swim of 17 kilometres from Atal Setu to the Gateway of India. This was a challenging long-distance sea route that was achieved on her 10th birthday.
