For the first time, India will host the World Tennis League 2025, featuring several national and international tennis stars sharing the same stage. The event is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru from December 17 to 20 at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium. The fourth edition of the tournament will feature 16 players from around the globe, divided into four teams, comprising two male and two female players, with two of the teams featuring Indian players.
This annual tournament highlights names like Grand Slam Champion Daniil Medvedev, Nick Kyrgios, and Rohan Bopanna. India’s No. 1 Sumit Nagal will make his third consecutive appearance in the tournament; meanwhile, Bopanna makes his return to the event after three years.
World Tennis League 2025 Format
The four teams will face each other for one game each in a single robin round format. Only the top two teams will then qualify for the finals round and compete for the title. Meanwhile, in a match, each tie will have four sets, one in men’s and women’s singles and two in doubles. In this, two out of the three doubles teams winning the toss will be part of the tie.
In case a team wins the fourth set and is leading the tie, in that case, the tie will be over. On the other hand, if a team leading the tie wins one game, it will result in overtime, and they will be the declared winners of the match. If the match ends in an equal score, then the first-to-10 ‘super shoot-out tiebreak will be played, in which one game point plus two bonus points are awarded.
