On Tuesday, January 27, top-seeds Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz won the quarterfinals match of the ongoing Australia Open 2026 held at the Rod Laver Arena. With their respective wins, both have registered their names in the semi-final match of the men’s and women’s categories. Sabalenka will face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, while Alcaraz registered his victory against Alexander Zverev.

With two Grand Slam titles in 2023 and 2024, World No. 1 women’s singles player Sabalenka defeated 29th seed Iva Jović of America in the quarterfinals match by sets of 6-3, 6-0. The Belarusian will next compete against 12th seed Svitolina, who won her match against third seed Coco Gauff of America by sets of 6-1, 6-2. This is Svitolina’s first-ever Australian Open qualification.
Earlier in the pre-quarterfinals, Sabalenka defeated Canada’s Victoria Mboko by sets of 6-1, 7-6(1) and secured her spot in the quarterfinals match of the Australian Open for the fourth time.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles quarterfinals match, Spaniard Alacraz defeated sixth seed Alex by sets of 7-5, 6-2, 6-1. The win got him set against the third-seed Alexander Zverev of Germany. Zverev ended 25th seed Learner Tien of America’s campaign by defeating him in four sets of 6-3, 6(5)-7(7), 6-1, 7(7)-6(3).
In the other end, there are two more semi-finalists to be added in the men’s and women’s singles categories from the matches scheduled on Wednesday, January 28. In the men’s singles event, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic will face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, while World No. 2 Jannik Sinner will compete against Australia’s Ben Shelton.
Meanwhile, the women’s singles event will see Polish star Iga Świątek go against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, while the second one will be an Australian clash between fourth-seed Amanda Anisimova and sixth-seed Jessica Pegula.
On Monday, January 26, 2026, both Anisimova and Pegula earned their respective quarterfinal spots. Anisimova defeated China’s Wang Xinyu by sets of 7-6(4), 6-4, while Pegula secured her win over defending champion Madison Keys. Pegula defeated the ninth-seed by sets of 6-3, 6-4.
