On Thursday, January 29, India’s world no. 48 Isharani Baruah and Devika Sihag secured their quarter-final spot in the ongoing 2026 Thailand Masters Super 300.

The Indians defeated Chinese Taipei’s opponents in the Round of 16 match. Baruah secured her victory over second seed Sung Shou Yun, while Devika Sihag edged past the eighth seed Tung Ciou-Tong. Meanwhile, Tharun Mannepalli was the sole contender from India to book his spot in the men’s category.
In the first match of the Round of 16, India’s Baruah defeated Chinese Taipei’s Shou Yun by sets of 21-13, 14-21, 21-14. The match lasted for an hour and two minutes. With the win, India has booked her spot in the quarter-finals match, where she will face Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching.
Joining Baruah in the quarter-finals is India’s Devika, who edged past the eighth seed Ciou-Tong to secure a comfortable win by sets of 21-14, 21-14 in the match that lasted for 32 minutes. She will next face Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Mannepalli secured a hard-fought win over Chinese Taipei’s Yen Chen after defeating them by sets of 21-17, 14-21, 24-22. The match was played in an intense battle for an hour and 18 minutes. His quarter-finals match is, however, set against China’s Shixun Zhu.
India’s disappointments in the Thailand Masters 2026
Besides the positive end, India had a disappointing campaign from Shriyanshi Valishetty, Anmol Kharb and Kiran George. In the Round of 16 match, Shriyanshi and Anmol lost their respective women’s singles matches. Shriyanshi went down against China’s Yujia Huang in a close battle by sets of 21-10, 19-21, 19-21.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Letshanaa Karupathevan edged past India’s Anmol by sets of 17-21, 22-20, 19-21. On the other hand, seventh seeded men’s singles player, Geoger, lost his match to Indonesia’s Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo by straight sets of 16-21, 11-21 in the Round of 16.
India also lost its chance in the mixed doubles event, after the pair of Dhruv Rawat and Maneesha K lost their opening round match to Chinese Taipei’s duo of Chinese Taipei pair of Zhi-Wei He and Liang Ching Sun.
Earlier in the Round of 32 match, three Indian women’s doubles pair had lost their matches. In the first match, Rutaparna and Swetaparna Panda were defeated by the Chinese duo of Bao Lijing and Li Yijing by 12-21, 5-21. In another match, India’s duo of Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam also lost to Indonesian pair of Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma by 14-21, 12-21.
Meanwhile, the third defeat came from Sania Sikkandar and Rashmi Ganesh, who lost to Denmark’s Kathrine Vang and Mette Werge. After winning the first set by 22-20, the Indians lost the remaining two sets by 12-21 and 12-21.
