On Tuesday, June 16th, England played against Ireland in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. England won the game securing the crucial 2 points and continuing their momentum. However, their captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt retired at (48) when 9 runs were still needed to complete the game.

In the post-match interview, Sciver-Brunt described the decision to walk off as a precautionary measure. In her absence, vice-captain Charlie Dean leads the side.
The England management provided an update on Sciver-Brunt’s situation on Wednesday. The statement read, “Nat Sciver-Brunt suffered a left calf muscle strain, in a similar location to her recent injury, while batting against Ireland Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup group match in Southampton on Tuesday.”
“Following a scan on Wednesday and further assessment by the England medical team, she will be unavailable for the next two fixtures against Scotland and the West Indies. Nat will continue to be monitored and assessed by the England medical team as she undertakes her rehab while remaining in the squad.”
Since Sciver-Brunt won’t be a part of the next two fixtures, the batting order is likely to be shuffled. Sophia Dunkley is likely coming back into the team at the top of the order, which means Amy Jones moves down to No.3 with everyone else moving down a spot.
