On Thursday, January 22, 2026, American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shared good news about her personal life with the world. The track and field athlete is a two-time Olympic medalist in 400 metres hurdles and is expecting a child. Sydney broke the news of her pregnancy on her social media page, sharing some heartfelt pictures of a photoshoot with her husband, Andre Levrone, a former NFL player, along with a small message.
Sharing the post on her Instagram account, Sydney released some pictures showing the scans of their soon-to-be-born baby. The post read, “Made a human with my favorite human. Oh, how we have prayed for you… and the Lord has answered!! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved. We are eagerly waiting to meet you! 🫶🏽🤍 Cool parents loading…”
McLaughlin-Levrone is one of the notable names of track and field. The hurdler won two 440m hurdles titles in the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics. At the 2025 World Athletics Championships held in Tokyo, the American broke a 48-year-old record by claiming a gold medal in the 400m flat event with a timing of 47.78 seconds. McLaughlin-Levrone was just 0.19 seconds short of Germany’s Marita Koch’s world record of 47.60 set in 1985.
The American hurdler will, however, miss her participation in the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Budapest from 11 to 13 September. Previously, in December 2025, Sydney was named the World Athletes of the Year award along with pole vault sensation Mondo Duplantis of Sweden.
Sydney and Andre marriage
The two-time Olympic medalist and former NFL star got engaged in August 2021, followed by which they got married in Madison, Virginia, in 2022. The couple shared the news after releasing some exclusive photos from the ceremony on their social media.
After marriage, the American hurdler has received immense support from her husband, followed by which she went on to win her first global recognition after creating history at the World Athletics Championship last year. She is now the second-fastest player with a record of 47.78 in the 400-meter race.
During an exclusive interview with ‘PEOPLE’, McLaughlin-Levrone credited her husband’s support for her achievement and said, “He’s such a huge support. There’s so much behind the scenes that he’s involved in and takes care of, especially on race days.”
Meanwhile, Andre shared about having a balanced life after becoming partners with Sydney and being supportive of each other’s careers.
He shared, “I have a vision in life, she has a vision in life, and we just kind of merged our visions. And being able to just model that the two of us are partners and what I like to call ‘co-laborers’ in life. And in this season of life, me primarily supporting her and her dream and her calling, is fun for me. And just knowing how supportive she is of me as well and in the long term.”
