Badminton Asia Junior Team Championships 2026: India Storm Into Quarterfinals with Dominant Win Over Kazakhstan

The ongoing Badminton Asia Junior Team Championship 2026 is taking place in Yatsushiro, Japan from 26th June to 30th June. While the individual events will be held from July 1st to July 5th.

India have secured their place in team championships quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan in group C opener, on Saturday.

India dominated Kazakhstan with a performance of 55-31 and 55-21 to seal the place. The win is crucial as they will now face Chinese Taipei which will determine the group C winners.

India made a strong start in the doubles, with Durga Esha Kandrapu and Keerthy Manchala defeating Alissa Kuleshova and Diana Namenova 11-5.

However, Puneeth Suresh and Deepti Raj Aditi went through a brief difficult period before ultimately defeating Alissa Kuleshova and Mustafa Malikzhan by 11-10 in a closely contested match. After this hard fought match, India easily wrapped the remaining three disciplines to win the opening set 55-31.

The second set is where they truly dominated. None of the players conceded more than six points in any of the matches as they won with a significant 55-21.

India has won 11 medals at the previous editions of Badminton Asia Junior Championships. The live streaming of the tournament is available to watch in India through Badminton Asia’s Facebook and YouTube channel. They’re drawn in group C of the tournament, alongside Philippines, Kazakhstan, and Chinese Taipei.

India will now face Chinese Taipei on Sunday, where the winner is expected to top group C.
