Karishma Shirvoikar is an Indian professional footballer known for her attacking instincts, speed, and relentless work rate in the final third. Hailing from the coastal state of Goa, she has steadily risen through grassroots football to represent the Indian national team. Over the years, she has become a familiar face in domestic competitions such as the Indian Women’s League (IWL) while also gaining international experience with the national side.

Her journey, from playing football on Goan beaches to representing India, reflects the growing opportunities and determination driving women’s football in the country. Karishma Shirvoikar was born on 4 August 2001 in Odxel, a small seaside village near Panaji in Goa. Coming from a modest background, football quickly became an escape and a passion for her.

Her mother, Anjani, works as a vegetable seller to support the family, while her father, Purushottam, has been dealing with health issues. Despite these challenges, Karishma remained determined to pursue football and build a career in the sport.

She studied at Our Lady of the Rosary Higher Secondary School in Dona Paula, where she began learning the fundamentals of football under coach Carol Fernandes Gomes. Her early exposure to structured training helped shape her technical abilities and understanding of the game.

Before entering competitive football, Karishma spent much of her childhood playing informal matches with boys on the beaches of Goa, an experience that helped develop her physical resilience and competitive spirit.

In 2014, she participated in the Times Girls Soccer League, representing her school and gaining recognition for her attacking potential. Her performances at youth competitions soon opened doors to club football. By 2017, she joined Panjim Footballers, one of the prominent women’s teams in Goa. With Panjim Footballers, she helped the club secure the Goa Women’s League title in 2017 and 2018. During the same period, she also represented Goa in the Junior National Championships, gaining valuable competitive experience against players from across India.

Karishma’s progress at the youth level earned her opportunities to represent India in developmental competitions. One notable milestone came when she participated in the BRICS U-17 Football Tournament held in South Africa in 2018.

In 2019, she was selected for a training stint in Spain through Palamós CF, where she trained with CD Fontsanta Fatjó, a third-division Spanish women’s team. This experience allowed her to train in a professional European environment and broaden her tactical understanding of the game.

Karishma began gaining recognition at the domestic level through her performances with Panjim Footballers, where she competed in both the Goa Women’s League and the Indian Women’s League (IWL). Her attacking contributions helped the team remain competitive in regional and national competitions, while also placing her on the radar of larger clubs. In 2020, Karishma joined Gokulam Kerala FC Women, one of the strongest teams in Indian women’s football.

Karishma continued her club journey with teams competing in domestic leagues, including a stint with Kickstart FC Women, where she contributed to the team’s success in the Karnataka Women’s League (2023–24). She currently plays as a forward for Sribhumi FC Women, continuing her participation in the Indian Women’s League, India’s top-tier competition for women’s football.

Karishma Shirvoikar made her senior debut for the Indian national team in 2021. Since then, she has been part of multiple training camps and international matches as the team continues its preparations for continental competitions. She has represented India in several international fixtures, including: International friendlies, Olympic qualification matches, Preparatory tours against Asian national teams.
