After nine years at Arsenal, Beth Mead, the English forward has joined their rivals, Manchester City.
Beth Mead is a prolific English player who has 81 caps and 40 goals to her name and was part of the Euro 2022 and 2025 winning squads.

Mead joined Arsenal in 2017 and recently signed a three-year contract with Man City. Over the course of 9 years, she has won the FA Women’s Super League, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and the Inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. She holds the record for most assists in the WSL with 54.
In a statement on the Manchester City website, Mead stated, “I’m very proud to be here. Obviously, City had an amazing season last year and I am excited to start a new chapter here. I think the way City plays suits me really well, and I feel like it can get something extra out of my game.”
With several England players already at Man City, Beth is excited to play alongside them regularly. She said, “I’ve played with a lot of the players in the team, I’ve watched a lot of players in the team over the years and in the season gone, and I think that’s what created a lot of excitement.
“I’ve been excited to be able (to) get the chance to play with some of these players and enjoying playing some good football knowing they’re good humans, good people, a good team, good vibes. So yeah, I think that’s made it a lot easier, the transition to come here.”
Mead admitted that Man City’s clinical edge in front of goal during the 2025/26 final season was a key factor in Manchester winning the 2025/26 title. She added, “City have always played beautiful football, but I think this season they’ve been very cutthroat in front of goal, (found) different ways of scoring, different ways of creating goal scoring opportunities.
“I think that’s been the difference, they’ve found ways to score and win games when it’s been cagey or whether it’s felt easy and you become complacent. I think that’s been the difference this season for City winning.”
The lioness also has several individual records during her time at Arsenal:
- She was the first player in the Women’s Super League to reach 50 assists
- The First female footballer to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year
- She was also the top scorer for Arsenal during the 2017-18 season
